Pakistan Flood Relief

Urgent Appeal to Support Pakistan Flood Relief

Since late June 2025, Pakistan has been battered by unprecedented monsoon rains and flash floods. As of mid-August, the country has witnessed over 700 deaths, more than 960 injuries, and hundreds missing, affecting vast swathes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and northern areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been among the hardest hit. In mid-August, flash floods and cloudbursts triggered a catastrophic deluge across districts including Buner, Swat, Bajaur, Battagram, Mansehra, Shangla, and Abbottabad. One particularly devastating cloudburst resulted in 158 fatalities in Buner alone, while a rescue helicopter tragically crashed during relief operations.

In Karachi, torrential rainfall, some of the heaviest recorded since 1979, caused widespread urban flooding. At least seven people died, and the city’s infrastructure, transportation, power, and communications systems were severely disrupted.

The scale of suffering is vast, with entire villages swept away, families displaced, homes and livelihoods destroyed, and vulnerable groups, especially pregnant women and children, not receiving the care they urgently need.
