British Pakistan Foundation supported the British Asian Trust Annual Iftar held in London and Manchester. Superstar Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan and Sanam Saeed, as well as award-winning British Asian DJs Noreen Khan and Neev Spencer were in attendance, supporting our appeal in person.
All the money raised will go to the Trust’s Change Minds campaign, an appeal to help those affected by mental health issues. In Pakistan, as many as one in five families are affected, but with fewer than 400 psychiatrists, it is difficult to get help. Money raised will also go to support those entangled in the ongoing Rohingya crisis. There are more than 900,000 Rohingya people living as refugees, having fled unspeakable violence in Myanmar. They are at huge risk of trafficking, abuse and exploitation. Pre-monsoon rains are already worsening conditions and as the rainy season approaches, we urgently need your help to keep refugee women and children safe from harm, and help survivors recover from trauma.
